what is with this obsession people have with “niceness”, This obsession with “niceness” needs to be discarded. People feel everyone is under the obligation to be nice to eachother. The notion of a person expected to be nice is insincere and half way to being a meaningful act. What does it mean when one says “this person is such a nice person? Does it mean putting up with behaviour they feel is unacceptable? Does it mean that they never rock the boat, that they always speak in line, they conform to the other persons expectations? do we really need shallow politeness with no regard to blatant honesty,do we really need to water down all feelings so others will feel comfortable all the time? “Being nice is a poor substitute for compassion and prevents us from speaking truth.”
